Designed for Big Data

Scale out to hundreds or thousands of terabytes of data

Conventional storage systems are generally designed for smaller environments. With limits on the number of disks and controller capacity, RAID architectures can become bottlenecks at very large scale. At the same time, the rapid growth of digital data is creating demand for dramatically larger storage capacities.

RAID is fundamentally a scale-up architecture. Once a controller reaches its limits, increasing capacity and performance usually requires replacing or redesigning infrastructure. These constraints are poorly suited to Big Data environments containing large numbers of disks and enormous datasets.

Xendure is designed with Big Data in mind, targeting tens of thousands of disks, thousands of nodes, and hundreds of thousands of terabytes of data. Its scale-out, distributed architecture allows capacity and performance to increase by adding nodes and disks without changing the core configuration. Xendure also uses BitExpander for data protection and can take advantage of newer disk capacities available in the market without dependence on proprietary hardware.
