Traditional RAID architectures can make the RAID controller and connected host major bottlenecks, while the number of disks that can be attached is also limited.
Xendure is designed as a distributed system without a fixed limit on the number of disks or nodes. Adding one or more nodes increases both available capacity and performance, making hundreds of nodes and thousands of disks practical.
Because data is written to and read from disks across multiple nodes in parallel, and the file-system client communicates directly with the nodes, there is no centralized controller bottleneck.
