Traditional RAID systems often favor expensive SAS, NL-SAS, or Enterprise SATA drives. Xendure, by contrast, emphasizes cost-effective use of conventional drives and higher capacities.
Given the pace of storage technology advancement, periodically replacing lower-cost, higher-capacity disks can be more economical in many scenarios than keeping expensive enterprise drives in service for a long period.
Xendure can use a wide range of disks, including Desktop drives, while still allowing customers to use NL-SAS or SAS drives when required.
