File / Namespace Architecture
Access extremely large amounts of data through a unified namespace using the HSRFS file system
In traditional storage systems, storage capacity is commonly exposed as LUNs. Controller and file-system limitations can split a large storage pool into multiple virtual disks. Many RAID controllers cannot create LUNs larger than 64 TB.
Instead of LUNs or partitions, Xendure uses the concept of a namespace. In this architecture, a namespace is analogous to a folder or directory in other file systems.
This allows even tens of thousands of terabytes to be presented and used as a unified space, without requiring separate solutions such as LVM to construct a unified namespace.
